Who am I, anyway?

Let’s get introductions life stories out of the way shall we?

I’m Peter Greaves. I live in Liverpool, United Kingdom with my wife and golden retriever. My parents bought me a ZX Spectrum+ with my christening money (seriously!) and there began the journey to coding my way through life. After a love affair with Amiga, the family purchased our first Windows PC in 1996, and I was online by 1999. One bachelor’s degree in software engineering later, I was just in time for the mid-2000s surge in web and was swept into the exciting world of open source, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and inevitably but not literally, the cloud.

I am experienced in web application development having been on the front line with two outstanding offerings in the hospitality sector during the last 6 years. With Welcome Anywhere, I led development on a web-based replacement of a successful, yet creaking property management system. It continues to go from strength-to-strength. Most recently, with ChaletManager, I joined an already well-established product but was able to help develop a new strategy in how booking rates were handled to get their customers selling chalets on potentially over 150 online channels. With a solid grounding in application/API development and utilising 3rd party APIs for tasks such as online payment, distribution, SMS etc., I can help your organisation’s product advance or be completely overhauled. That’s where Code Refresh comes in.

My life is about balancing new experiences with what I know, so I primarily work remotely which enables me to do what I’m good at from anywhere – whether that’s a coworking space near the beach, or sat next to the dog on a typically rainy North-West England day. My motivation is breathing new life into web software and working with the people who want to make that happen. Grab yourself a coffee, drop me a message and we’ll go from there…
